Permabond is delighted to announce the launch of another new product, our ultra-fast curing UV643 UV adhesive. This product has been designed to bond both rigid plastics and thermoplastics very well. Substrates that UV643 adheres well to include PC, PMMA, PETG, PET, ABS and PVC. The adhesive also bonds dissimilar substrates, such as metal to plastic.

UV643 cures incredibly quickly – glass to glass bonding takes a fraction of a second with a high intensity UV lamp. One of the many features of this adhesive, is that even with a lower-powered lamp, or if curing through thick, UV stabilised plastic, the adhesive can still be cured relatively quickly. The fact that it contains several photoinitiators means it can cure on multiple wavelengths between 365 and 420nm.

UV643 is thixotropic, and has controlled flow properties, allowing easy dispensing and accurate application – making it easy to work with before curing. Because of these properties, the adhesive can be used as a fillet and works well even in difficult joints.

Excellent resistance to many factors

Permabond UV643 passes 85/85 accelerated life testing (whereby a product is exposed to 85°C and 85% relative humidity for a prolonged period of time – up to 1,000 hours). This means that the product offers excellent resistance to both heat and humidity. This also makes it highly suitable for outdoor applications, as it has great environmental durability.

UV643 also provides excellent resistance to thermal cycling. Furthermore, the adhesive actively resists yellowing, meaning the finish stays smooth, clear and aesthetically pleasing long after curing.

Potential UV643 Target Applications:

  • Electronics
  • Automotive applications
  • Plastic window bonding
  • Household appliances
  • Optic assemblies

Due to Permabond UV643’s excellent strength, durability and tack-free cure, the adhesive can also be used as a coating or encapsulation. This makes it ideal for use in electronics or optical applications for example. It also offers the benefit of a low-hazard SDS, which is another thing that sets it apart from competitor products.
