Permabond Europe is pleased to announce the launch of its new toughened acrylic adhesive, Permabond TA4208 Black. This breakthrough product has been designed with the steadily growing composite materials market in mind. Engineered to serve the needs of a wide variety of industries, the multi-purpose TA4208 Black is definitely an adhesive to have in your arsenal.

Permabond TA4208 Black is a two-part, 1:1 toughened acrylic that is easy to apply with a dispensing gun. It has a high viscosity, is non-slumping (and thus ideal for vertical applications) and great for gap filling. A standout attribute is its surface adhesion technology, which allows it to bond through oxide layers or oily surfaces. This means that almost no surface preparation is necessary before bonding! This saves crucial time and is particularly beneficial for fast production lines. The adhesive’s quick strength development further enhances its time-saving abilities. A working cure, offering both high peel and shear strength, takes as little as 20 minutes after bonding!

TA4208 Black Substrates and Applications

Permabond TA4208 Black bonds well to most substrates including metals, plastics, composites, ceramics and woods. It’s also great for bonding dissimilar surfaces. It’s particularly useful for bonding composites due to its flow control and jet black finish. This stark black, in contrast to other black adhesives, renders it excellent for colour matching certain composite materials, such as carbon fiber. In so doing, it also helps to ensure streamlined production and product consistency.

Potential applications for this adhesive include automotive composites, wind turbines, sports equipment, and medical equipment such as prosthetics. Its good environmental and chemical resistance make it highly suitable for outdoor applications that need to be weather resistant, or for applications that may come into contact with chemicals, such as in automotive or medical use.
