Permabond MH052 has BAM approval for use with gaseous oxygen up to 10 bar (145 psi) and 60°C (140°F). Standard anaerobic sealants are unstable in oxygen-rich systems. The instability could cause fire or explosions.  MH052 is a unique formulation which is stable in oxygen rich environments providing a safe means to seal threaded joints in gaseous oxygen systems up to 10 bar (145 psi) and 60°C (140°F).

Typical applications for MH052 pipe sealant include sealing oxygen pipelines in hospitals, breathing apparatus, aircraft oxygen systems and more.  MH052 is also suitable for other gases and liquids and has excellent chemical resistance.

Permabond MH052 offers the user many additional benefits such as vibration-proof sealing and no cracking, creep or shrinking of cured adhesive. This particle free formula means there is nothing in the product that can clog valves. Packaged for ease of use, it is suitable for shop, jobsite or production floor. Once cured, piping assembled with MH052 can be easily dismantled with normal tools for repairs, maintenance, or system upgrades. Additional approvals include DVGW (gas and water) and WRAS (drinking water approval).

Directions for Use

  • Apply a continuous bead around the circumference of the male thread (normally 1-2 threads back from the leading edge).
  • For taper/parallel threads  – ensure you position the adhesive where the threads will engage fully. Gaps and cure times may be greater than expected with this joint configuration.
  • Apply sufficient adhesive to give a complete seal. (See a small squeeze out of adhesive around the pipe.)
  • Tighten the components with suitable tools. Do not adjust. Allow the product to fully cure before using the part (lower temperatures or large gaps will extend the cure time).

NB: Adhesive outside of a closed joint (i.e., excess material) will remain uncured due to air contact. Adhesive inside the joint will cure solid. Ensure the adhesive viscosity is suitable for your thread size.
