Two component epoxy adhesives bond various plastics, metals, composites, ceramics, and glass.  You can either allow the adhesive to cure at room temperature or heat to cure quickly.  Permabond food grade adhesives cure to a rigid solid that is non-porous for ease of cleaning. They are FDA Compliant Adhesives because they are formulated to FDA CFR 175.105.  These epoxy adhesives offer excellent resistance to water, food, cleaning fluids, and heat.

Why Epoxy Adhesives?

Two component epoxy food grade adhesives are ideal for bonding food processing equipment for many reasons, including performance, processability, and compliance.

  • Performance – High strength bonds
  • Process – The cure speed allows adequate time for alignment of large or bulky equipment.  To cure more quickly, apply heat.
  • Compliance – These epoxy adhesives are formulated with only those raw materials listed in the CFR as food safe.

Why are there no FDA Compliant Cyanoacrylate Adhesives?

Many people ask us for other types of food grade adhesives such as UV curable or cyanoacrylate adhesives that comply with FDA CFR 175.105 for food contact. However, it is simply not possible to formulate a UV Curable or Cyanoacrylate Adhesive from the ingredients listed as FDA compliant, in the CFR 175.105.  Although we appreciate that the fast speed of cure and many other desirable properties of cyanoacrylates and UV curable adhesives might make them seem appropriate, epoxy adhesives provide the temperature and chemical resistance as well as the structural durability required for most applications.
